Certification Exam Requests and Test Scheduling
A Certification Exam Request is submitted by the fire department chief or training officer and must be received by Fire Service Technology (FST) at least 45 days prior to the requested exam date. The provision of equipment, apparatus, and facilities needed for a testing event is the responsibility of the host department.
All forms for testing are now fillable online, when possible please fill out electronically then print and fax or mail in. This greatly assists with our processing.
Certification Test Applications are filled out by the candidate, signed by the chief or training officer and submitted to FST. In signing the application the chief/training officer is verifying that the applicant is adequately trained and qualified for the requested level of certification testing. A Local Verification form is also required for Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, and Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator - Pumper.
Wondering what textbooks you should study for your upcoming exam? While we try and keep all exam questions based on the NFPA standards, all test banks regardless of brand have some questions tailored to a specific textbook. In an effort to assist you, we have complied a list on the FAQ page of texts recommended for pre exam studying.
NOTE: All tests are scheduled through Fire Service Technology. You must register with FST before you are eligible to attend a testing session. *No walk-ins are allowed.* If a sufficient number of candidates is not met within two (2) weeks of the test date, the test will be cancelled. Registration for testing events closes two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled testing date. This allows for coordination of staffing for the test event and for production of test materials, rosters, and adequate shipping time.
